MASSAGE AND BODYWORK THERAPY

We offer a range of different massage and body-oriented therapies at Integrative Life. Massage therapy is a hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues and musculoskeletal structure of the body. Physicians and healers from all cultures have used massage for over three thousand years. There are over eighty different types of massage/bodywork therapies recognized by national and international healthcare organizations. Some examples that focus on the manipulation of the soft tissue of the body include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Lymph Drainage.

The benefits of regular therapeutic massage include:

  • Reduction of fatigue
  • Nervous system correction, which may help to prevent or alleviate nervous system disorders
  • More restful sleep and general stress reduction
  • Promotion of joint flexibility and general mobility
  • Improved muscle tone
  • Decrease in blood pressure
  • Relief of constipation
  • Improved circulation
  • Improved athletic performance
  • Increased release of body toxins and reduction of water retention
  • Quickening of the healing process in pre- and post-surgical events
  • Helping to keep skin tissue more supple and younger looking

More doctors and other healthcare workers are bringing massage back into the general healthcare system for the treatment and prevention of diseases. In many cases massage is covered by insurance.

Licensure is required in North Carolina for anyone practicing massage. Many therapists specialize in several different types of massage and/or bodywork therapies. Proof of licensure, specialty and references are important prerequisites when looking for a qualified therapist.

Bodywork modalities are available at Quantum Energy Medizine.
