ACCUPRESSURE

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves placing physical pressure on different acupuncture points on the surface of the body to stimulate the flow of energy. The body's energy meridians act as an energetic blueprint of the physical body. Often with tension, trauma or disease, energy becomes restricted and stimulating the movement of that energy can bring varying levels of and often dramatic relief. Acupressure does not diagnose or cure medical conditions. It works with imbalances in the body's energy field.

ACCUPUNCTURE

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an effective form of healthcare that evolved into a complete and wholistic medical system. Acupuncture is a form of therapy used for pain that increases blood flow and energy to irritated, painful muscles. It helps to relieve symptoms and signs while its goal is to treat the root cause and at the same time, quell the symptom.

Acupuncture is part of a broad-based approach. Treatments may be effectively combined with other therapies or stand alone. Herbs may be incorporated in the therapy to naturally eliminate pain and reduce inflammation.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture uses fine, Tiny “hair-like” sterile needles that are gently inserted into specific points, the muscles and meridians (channels in which nerves flow along the body) to energize and strengthen damaged muscles. The treatment is not painful! Sometimes, an electro-stimulator may be attached to the needles after they are inserted in the body. This helps to speed recovery to the damaged area by simulating the contraction and releasing of the muscle that is similar to the action of exercising. Some patients feel immediate pain relief as a result of acupuncture. In other conditions, it may take at least six visits before desired results are reached. This is a quick recovery period compared to the six to eight weeks that it normally takes an injured muscle to heal using traditional methods of treatment.

If there is an anxiety against using needles, the Acupuncturist my elect to use needleless techniques, such as AcuScen and/or Acupressure uses the same techniques that are used in acupuncture, only there are no needles. Pressure is applied to painful areas along meridians or damaged muscles to create the release of endorphins. This helps to heal the muscle and to rejuvenate irritated areas of pain. This treatment is great for children and elderly patients who can receive the benefits of acupuncture without the needle.
